Kia has revealed the all-new EV5, a fully electric SUV that sits between the compact EV3 SUV and the seven-seat EV9 SUV.
The brand new model in the Kia line up will begin its European rollout later in 2025, offering up to 329 miles of range on a single charge and a focus on practicality for everyday use.
Built on Kia’s dedicated electric platform known as E-GMP, the EV5 features an 81.4kWh battery and a 160kW front-mounted electric motor. Charging from 10 to 80 percent can be completed in around 30 minutes using a 150kW DC fast charger.
The new EV5 also supports Kia’s latest regenerative braking system and i-Pedal 3.0 one-pedal drive for greater energy efficiency in urban conditions.
At 4,610mm long, the EV5 sits between the EV3 and EV9 in Kia’s expanding line-up, offering family-friendly space with a 566-litre boot and 1,650 litres of total load capacity with the rear seats folded.
Inside, a flat-floor layout and fold-flat second-row seats provide added flexibility for carrying larger loads or outdoor equipment. A three-zone climate control system, panoramic dual-screen display and over-the-air software updates form part of Kia’s next-generation infotainment and comfort package.
From behind the wheel, the EV5 promises a smooth and composed driving experience. Its low-mounted battery pack contributes to a lower centre of gravity, improving stability and agility compared with traditional SUVs. Features such as Highway Driving Assist 2 and Remote Smart Parking Assist 2 add to convenience and safety.
The EV5 also introduces a number of family-focused innovations. Kia’s optional Pet Mode maintains interior temperature for animals during short stops, while interior materials follow the company’s sustainability goals, using recycled and bio-based finishes.
Two trims will be available at launch, the Baseline and GT-Line, with front-wheel drive and towing capability of up to 1,200kg. The official WLTP range stands at up to 329 miles for models equipped with 18-inch wheels.
Prices for the EV5 range from £39,295 for the entry level Air model to £47,995 for the top level GT-Line model – you can find our latest EV5 lease deals on the car here. Company car tax starts at £471 per year for a 40% tax payer.
