The Kia EV9 has been named the UK Car of the Year 2024, adding another trophy to its growing collection. This prestigious award, decided by a panel of 30 automotive journalists, recognises the EV9 as the most impressive new car available to UK drivers.
The EV9’s triumph wasn’t limited to the overall title. It also secured the top spot in the competitive ‘Large Crossover’ category. Judges were particularly impressed by the EV9’s practicality, sleek design, and impressive electric driving range.

John highlighted the car’s seven-seating capacity, technological features, premium feel, and long range, praising it as a “seriously impressive and hugely appealing car”.
Judges representing various automotive publications commended the EV9’s all-round appeal. Paul Barker of Carwow lauded its attractive design, comfortable interior, and ability to combine spacious seating with a practical electric range. Appreciating its luxurious feel, Alex Grant, a fleet expert, viewed the EV9 as a compelling option for large families, even competing with premium SUVs. Tech journalist Rob Clymo emphasised the car’s practicality for people-movers, while also acknowledging its surprising driving dynamics and advanced technology.

This recent accolade adds to the EV9’s early success. Launched in the UK his January, it was already shortlisted for the 2024 European Car of the Year and is among the top three contenders for the yet to be announced 2024 World Car Awards.
