Uncertain times call for flexible vehicle solutions, says CBVC

With Brexit negotiations going down to the wire, with a deal still to be approved by Parliament and a General Election now confirmed – the UK’s economy and productivity have both suffered as a result.

This has led to many companies putting their replacement and new vehicle ordering on hold until the picture becomes clearer and the economic outlook brighter and more certain.

One way to overcome the current political and economic uncertainty is to turn to daily rental for a short-term mobility solution, says Mike Manners, Managing Director at CBVC Vehicle Management.
“At the moment, the political uncertainty has meant many companies shying away from committing to a long-term vehicle contracts because of the risks involved, as you could end up with a vehicle that is left unused, or having to pay an expensive early termination charge.

“However, many businesses may still have an immediate need for a new vehicle for a probationary employee or a new contract, or need to replace aging vehicles on the fleet.

“In that case, there are short term mobility solutions that can provide businesses with the very latest vehicles – without the need to enter into potentially costly long-term contracts or laying out large amounts of cash.

“One such solution is our own Flexi-Rent programme that delivers reliable, up-to-date vehicles instantly, without a long-term commitment, at prices very close to those of long-term contract hire.

“Through Flexi-Rent, we can provide a simple way to access modern, safe, maintenance free, legally-compliant vehicles, for when business needs them most and, importantly, with only a short-term commitment.”

Manners said that opting for Flexi-Rent opened the way to a virtually unlimited choice of vehicles.

“Through our extensive network of rental partners, we can offer in excess of 250,000 vehicles nationally, many deliverable in as little as two hours across most parts of the UK.

“Occasional use drivers can have a choice of vehicles that are suitable for the tasks required without having to resort to their own cars – and opening up a whole can of duty of care issues,” he said.

Short term rental vehicles are ideal for meeting a number of circumstances:

  • Replacing unreliable or end of contract vehicles
  • Proving vehicles to new starters in their probationary periods
  • Meeting the needs of short term projects such as a new six-month contract
  • Providing specialist vehicles, such as people carriers, dropsides, tippers or 4×4 pick ups
  • Providing occasional drivers with a compliant and safe car which can be cheaper than paying mileage allowances to use their own vehicles.

“Given the political turmoil and economic uncertainty we have faced over recent months and which is still ongoing, daily rental solutions, like Flexi-Rent, can be the answer to a company’s short term mobility needs,” added Mike Manners.
