Fastned placed first equal in the Zap-Map EV chargepoint survey 2022

Where to find the best EV chargers

IF you are new to electric vehicles (EVs) or have experienced the frustration of turning up at a chargepoint to find that it is out of order, then here’s something to help you.

It’s the list of the best rated EV chargers ranked by a survey of EV drivers.

Each year Zap-Map, the EV chargepoint map locator, surveys respondents about their charging experience and then ranks their level of satisfaction with the networks in five key areas: reliability, ease of use, customer support, value for money, and payment options.

In joint-first place overall this year are two ultra-rapid networks, Fastned (pictured above) and MFG EV Power. The two networks – which both provide hubs with multiple chargers at each location – scored particularly highly for reliability and ease of use. They both secured Zap-Map’s ‘Best EV Charging Network’ badge.

Taking third place this year was rapid network InstaVolt, while Connected Kerb and Osprey came in joint fourth – meaning all three networks earned the ‘EV Driver Recommended’ title.

The charging network voted best value – which actually finished 12th overall – was ChargePlace Scotland, thanks to an extensive network of free to use charge points.

Drivers should also be aware that last year’s high flyers, GRIDSERVE and GeniePoint, did rather less well this year.

GRIDSERVE and its Electric Highway moved down from joint fifth to joint 10th, while GeniePoint plummeted from 11th in 2021 to 19th in this year’s survey.

The survey excludes the Tesla network since the majority of charge points are only available to Tesla drivers.
